Reward for Sacred Labour, Trustworthiness – and Let Everyone Keep Up

The German female theoretical physicist Sabine Hossenfelder talks about the state of affairs within the scientific community and so-called "bad science" in a video on her YouTube-channel. Take a look.

She even calls physicists and the way research is conducted today corrupt, nonsensical and without integrity. Let's take a look at it and see if there's a way to understand what's going on – and it may well be different from her frustrated point of view.

My view on this question

Sabine (and others) may be angry about the state of affairs within the physics community today.
But there is another way to look at this. Do you know of anything else where the more effort you make, the result is the same?

This means that if 30 people over 30 years gain extraordinary new insights in a field, what will it not be like if 100,000 people work in the same field? Will discoveries happen 3,333 times faster or be 3,333 times more extensive? No, they might be a little more detailed than what the 30 people would be able to do.

That something else I'm talking about is comparing it to Bitcoin!

The strange phenomenon of more work done resulting in the same outcome. Five people receive the same reward for mining as one, with respect to Bitcoin. So it is with Bitcoinmining! Picture created using Midjourney for Lars Laursen.

For Bitcoin mining, this is true: If it takes 30 people 10 minutes to mine 1 ounce of gold, how long will it take 100,000 people? It will still take 10 minutes for the 100,000 to mine just 1 ounce of gold.

With the number of labourers, the difficulty of labour increases only correspondingly. What do we get out of all this? What do taxpayers get out of it?

Many people will work in the field and earn money – and trustworthiness in the results (the physicists' theory) will grow with the amount of money invested... Physicists have a very credible standard model in quantum mechanics and relativity theory. We also have a very trustworthy Bitcoin because the mining community has so many members who also have a great financial interest in the cryptocurrency being trustworthy – otherwise, their business would have to cease and there would be no Bitcoin cryptocurrency.

That's one way to look at it. They build credibility and trustworthiness. The more people there are about it, the more credible it is. But is it innovative? Do physicists make new discoveries?

What would happen if they did? Everything would happen at an ever-accelerating pace. Not everyone interested in working with physics would have had a chance to work with quantum physics. Society as a whole on this planet may need slow, linear progress. In order for everyone to keep up, we have to go at the same speed, at least until everyone has done and got what they need to get out of it.

That said, currently, there is a spiritualization of physics. However, these (underground) physicists have little chance of becoming mainstream as long as the old paradigm prevails. These physicists may look at the policies of current influential physicists and the policies granting bodies as dinosaurs who do not know that they are already extinct.

This may not be a real problem because so many people have to familiarize themselves with the current state of physics. The old physicists and the grant structure in research place limitations on what can be researched. When the old physicists are gone, things can change.

So it is not without reason what is happening. From a higher point of view, it may even be wise.

Today, there is a new trend in the world where disruption seems to have become a method. Once in a while (now at short intervals) everything within a field is redefined. The field is turned upside down. Everything has its time. A number of people must work in a field. Progress is being made at a certain rate, regardless of how many people are working in the field.

There is a reason for that. There's a reason we're on this planet. Anyone who needs to work in a field and undergo some development must have the opportunity to do so. Too many upheavals can be considered harmful. Disruption as a method can be bad. Turning the world upside down every year causes great uncertainty among people, entrepreneurs and companies. Society cannot keep up with the changes at the current pace. Only if everyone can follow or is freed up to follow along it can be okay.

What would happen if there were continuous disruption? Would there be countermeasures? Or would we all be raptured or exalted to heaven? Would we all have experienced everything we need to experience? Would we miss something? If we do that, should it happen anyway?

Would we have to go through bad/painful experiences because we haven't experienced everything we need to, the hard way or more mercifully? Can we be complete and perfect without having experienced everything we need?

Or is it all because some very influential people are holding us back? Because THEY haven't done everything yet... and thus freed everyone else from unnecessary experiences that are not entirely of their own making?

Let's take an example from the Bible to highlight my point.

Matthew chapter 20: The parable of the labourers in the vineyard – and an alternative intepretation

For the Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a man [that is] a householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and said unto them; go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, why stand ye here all the day idle?

They say unto him, because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, [that] shall ye receive.

So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, call the labourers, and give them [their] hire, beginning from the last unto the first.

And when they came that [were hired] about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.

But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.

And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, saying, these last have wrought [but] one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.

But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?

Take [that] thine [is,] and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

The alternative interpretation

One interpretation of this parable is that everyone on earth who works in the Lord's field, in the Lord's vineyard, receives the same reward, no matter how long they have labored. That is, they receive the ascension to the heavenly world. There are reasons why some workers are called to this work earlier than others, and why it is important, and why this allows even more workers to participate in the work. Everything is as it should be.

Although some have worked long to achieve what they have achieved, others start later at work, because now it is possible for them because others have already done their part of the work. It will be easier for the last workers to arrive, because the first ones have already done some of their own work. But the reward is the same: freedom to ascend to heaven.

This is similar to the reward of mining bitcoins and the reward of working within the physics community – that is, to the reward of working within the spiritual community. We are set free, free to walk towards our ascension – but not without making it possible for others to follow us and even for some to walk with us simultaneously.

You can contemplate or meditate on this and why it is so.
