I believe a great deal of music is inspired, especially the kind that resonates with many and touches the human soul. Musicians can be vessels of inspiration.
Take for example the classical composers Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Strauss (represented by the golden statue in the image from Vienna), and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The latter could almost be described as a messenger of music. No doubt, others can be as well.
Jon & Vangelis — "I'll Find My Way Home"
π₯ This is a live performance aired on BBC's Top of the Pops. A visually thematic studio version—including lyrics—can be seen and heard here.πΆ "I'll Find My Way Home" is a song written by Jon Anderson and Vangelis.
The piece emerged after the release of The Friends of Mr Cairo, which didn’t meet the band’s commercial expectations. Following a dinner together, Vangelis shared with Anderson a chord progression he had been developing and invited him over to complete it. They finished the song within three hours. It was released as a single in November 1981 and reached the Top Ten in several European countries. After its chart success, the song was added to The Friends of Mr Cairo as the opening track.
I first heard it as a young man, playing from the transistor radio in my home. I didn’t know who was singing, nor did I understand the English lyrics—but I felt chills down my spine. The song meant something to me.
Years passed, and I heard it sporadically on the radio, never learning the title or artist. In my early 30s, I finally discovered it was by Jon & Vangelis. I searched online to find all of their music, listened to it, and finally found the title.
Strangely, I remember hearing it at age 15—back in 1976—but the song was not released until 1981. Could it have been a shift in memory... or perhaps a temporal miracle? A bend in time...
π English Lyrics
You ask me where to begin
Am I so lost in my sin
You ask me where did I fall
I'll say I can't tell you when
But if my spirit is lost
How will I find what is near
Don't question I'm not alone
Somehow I'll find my way home
My sun shall rise in the east
So shall my heart be at peace
And if you're asking me when
I'll say it starts at the end
You know your will to be free
Is matched with love secretly
And talk will alter your prayer
Somehow you'll find you are there.
Your friend is close by your side
And speaks in far ancient tongue
A seasons wish will come true
All seasons begin with you
One world we all come from
One world we melt into one
Just hold my hand and we're there
Somehow we're going somewhere
Somehow we're going somewhere
You ask me where to begin
Am I so lost in my sin
You ask me where did I fall
I'll say I can't tell you when
But if my spirit is strong
I know it can't be long
No questions I'm not alone
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
